1861 Census - There is a Betsey Chittenden living at "No 2 The Terrace, Tonbridge, Kent. She is 20 and unmarried the daughter of William CHITTENDEN who was a Widower aged 61 on this Census, a Carpenter and Joiner. I would think this is the right Betsey. A brother Charles, aged 17 was also with the family, he was a Clerk (Solicitors) 1871 Census - Kingston Road, Merton, Surrey. I have found Henry, living next door to Betsey Chittenden, and her father. He was a Lodger and a Labourer. He was down as being born in Chelmsford, Essex, but we know he was baptised in Felsted, Essex. 1901 Census - 1 Willow Cottages, Kingston Road, North Wimbledon, Surrey 1901 Census - Argyll Street, St James, Westminster, London. This address appears to be for a very large Drapers, at least 120 employees. 1901 Census - 2 Willow Cottages, Kingston Road, North Wimbledon, Surrey I have not found Henry on the 1861 Census. There is a Henry Thorogood, down as 22 years old, so born in 1839, born Felstead, Essex on board an HMS vessel in Cornwall. He is down as a Private R.M. and could be the correct person but appears to be four years younger than he should have been. 1911 Census - 97 Lavenham Road, Southfields, London 1911 Census - 631 Kingston Road, Raynes Park, Surrey.
