Although De Combe/Des Comber and variant spellings occur in many ancient documents and will be research further, the earliest de Daccumbe occurs in an assignment of lands in Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight in 1250 by THOMAS de DACCUMBE and his wife Muriel; Thomas held considerable lands on the Isle. It is likely that he and his heirs held lands in Chelworth, Hampshire.
