DACKOMBE FAMILY
The Dackombes of Mainsbridge, Hampshire

Thomas Tyrell, Knt. of Essex sold the manor of Mainsbridge to Thomas Dackombe about 1365 and from him it was bought by John Smith before 1372. The conveyance of both Chilworth and Mainsbridge from Tyrell to Dackombes probably took place at the same time. Possible John and Thomas were brothers.

Another interesting fact is that Sir Hugh Tyrrel of Essex was Governor of Carisbrooke Castle in the 1370's and, as shown, the Dackombes held considerable lands there.
