I have received from Bonnie Mann in America her transcription of the said Will. I like the way that she has italicised the names of people within the Will and I shall do this to the other Wills in this section.
This is the Last Will and Testament of me Robert Dackome of the Charterhouse in the County of Middlesex, Gentlemen. First I desire that my body may be decently buried and I desire that five or six pounds be added towards the allowance of the House for that purpose and for the defreying the charges of my funeral. Item: I give and bequeath unto William Gateward of Gartner in the County of Middlesex, Esquire and Richard Gateward of Hatton Garden in the said County Esquire the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds, three percent Bank annunities, part of four hundred pounds, three percent Bank annunities now standing in my name in the Books of the Goodnour and Company of the Bank of England In Trust for the only proper use and benefit of the child or children of my Nephew Aquila Dackombe as shall be living at the time of my decease to be paid transferred or divided among them equally share and share alike together with the interest or dividends that shall from time to time grow due thereon as and when they shall respectively attain the age of twenty four years. And in case any of the children of my said nephew shall die before attaining such age then I will that the part or share or shares of him or her so dying shall go to and be equally divided amongst the survivors or survivor of them share and share alike to be paid or transferred to them at such their said age of twenty four years. And it is my Will and I do hereby declare that the dividend interest and profit of the said three hundred and fifty pound Bank annunities shall be had and received by my said Trustees and Executors from time to time as and when the same shall become due and shall continue and remain in their Hands and not be accumulated and re-invested but to be by them paid applied and divided equally amongst the child and children of my said Nephew Aquilla Dackombe, in the same manor and at the same time and subject to the same benefit of survivorship as the said three hundred and fifty pounds Bank annunities. It being my condition that my said Executor and Trustee shall not on any account be charged or chargeable with interest for any sum or sums of money they or either of them may receive for the dividend and produce of the said three hundred and fifty pounds Bank annunities. Item :I give to Sir William Addington ten pounds for a???. Item: I give to the said Richard Gateward and William Gateward thirty pounds a piece for the trouble they may have in Executing the trusts hereby reposed in them. Item: I give to Mr. John Morldy of the Charterhouse five pounds and also twenty shillings for a ???. Item : I give to Susan Spodgels William Wyke and Joshua Vaughan of the Charterhouse and to John Travers in Bridewell Alley Way the Kings Bowl prison Twenty shillings a piece for a ???. Item: I give and bequeath to my cousin Martha Browne at the Green Door in Ciril Street in the Strand the sum of twenty pounds. And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and assets both real and personal whatsoever and whomsoever and of what nature or kind so for the same shall consist or by wheresoever the same may be after payment of my debts charges and funeral expenses I give and bequeath to my said nephew Aquila Dackombe his Executors and Administrators having already in the year one thousand seven hundred and forty four and at other subsequent times advanced and lent him the sum of five hundred and twenty five pounds for his benefit and promotion in the world and which I freely relinquish and give up to him and all notes and securities given by him for the said. And it is my Will and I do hereby declare that my said trustees shall retain and reimburse themselves all such costs charges and expenses as they shall sustain or be put unto in executing the trusts aforesaid and I do hereby expressly charge my whole personal estate with the payment thereof. I do revoke all former wills and codicils by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to remain my last will and testimony whereof I the said Robert Dackombe have to this my will written in too sheets of paper together annexed to the one sheet set my hand and to the other sheet my hand and seal this twenty first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty and in the thirty fourth year of the Reign of our Soverign Lord George the second by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland, sprung forth of the faith and so forth Robert Dackombe ss Signed Sealed Published and declared by the said Robert Dackombe the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our hands as witnessed hereto Tho Mainioving John Whetton
In The Name of God Amen. Whereas I Robert Dackombe a pensioner in the Charterhouse London having formerly made my last Will and Testament which I do declare shall stand and be valid and being now tho sick in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be to God for the same and understanding that I am entitled to part of Two thousand and seven hundred pounds more or less late the personal Estate of John Knightley of ??? in the County of Surry Esquire deceased which I have not bequeathed in my said Will therefore I do hereby declare and make this as a Codicil to and part of my said last Will and Testament and do hereby give and bequeath to John Dackombe, Aquila Dackombe, Priscilla Dackombe, and Jane Dackombe, children of Aquila and Jane Dackombe of the parish of Saint Gregory in Great Carter Lane Jottors Common London all that my share part proportion of the abovementioned two thousand and seven hundred pounds and all my wright and title thereto both in Law and Equity let the same be more or less. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this thirteenth Day of September in the year of out Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two. THIS WILL was proved at London with a Codicil this twenty fourth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty two before the Worshipful Andrew Colrog Esquire Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Might Worshipful Sir Edward Simpson, Knight also Doctor of Laws Master Lawyer or Commissioner of the perogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of William Gateward and Richard Gateward Esquires the Executors according to the honor of the said Will to whom administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased was granted they having been first sworn duly to administer.
