A book on the STEDMAN family was issued in February 1999. Since then a lot of additional information has been add to this line. On 29th September 2006 I received the CD's for the NW Kent Family History Society for the records of St Botolph Church, Northfleet. This has added baptism, marriage and death details to a lot of this family.

A brief resumé of the STEDMAN line from my wife Jacqueline TERRY, is as follows:

• The mother of my wife is Maude Elizabeth POLTON, née THOROGOOD she was born on 24th December 1903 in Wimbledon, Surrey. The parents of Maude Elizabeth were William Henry THOROGOOD, born 1st February 1878 and her mother was Elizabeth Maud STEDMAN born 18th January 1877 in Northfleet, Kent, they married on 20th October 1898 at St Botolph. Northfleet, Kent.
• The father of Elizabeth Maud was Henry John STEDMAN, born 30th December 1849 and her mother was Mary Ann Elizabeth BARRY born 22nd April 1849 in Middlesex, they married on 16th August 1867:

  William John, born 11th August 1868, Northfleet, Kent
  Thomas, born 30th June 1870, Gravesend, Kent, married Bridgette
  James Redman, born 23rd March 1872 Gravesend, Kent married Tryphena

  Elizabeth Maud, born 18th January 1877, Northfleet, Kent married William Henry THOROGOOD
  Alfred Henry, born 24th May 1879, Northfleet, Kent

• The father of Henry John was Thomas born 26th March 1806 in Northfleet, Kent and his mother was Elizabeth SUDDS, born 1806 in Hoo/Ashton, Kent.

  Margaret, baptised 30th December 1830, Northfleet, Kent, died 9th April 1850

• The father of Thomas STEDMAN was another Thomas STEDMAN born 6th August 1778 in Northfleet, Kent and his mother was a Mary. Thomas married a second time to a Charlotte.

  John, baptised 24th January 1808, Northfleet, Kent, married Sarah
