Top of the table Barking Colts provided the opposition on one of the first "dry" games this season. As in the previous encounter the two teams proved very evenly matched. Daggers opened the scoring midway through the half when an excellent passing movement which started from just outside their own area saw S.Thorne hit a superb shot high into the net from the edge of the area. Despite their probing Colts could find no way through Dagenham's rear guard. Then just when Daggers looked to be going into the half-time break a goal to the good, Barking scored with a neat finish from a fine through ball. Barking then came out for the 2nd half with a flourish, as D&R lost their way for a while. Their second goal came as no surprise as a spell of pressure saw them create four or five good chances and only some fine goal keeping from Les Gillham and a header off the line from D.Wiffin kept the scoreline down. Digging deep into their reserves Dagenham hauled themselves back into the game and began to regain the upper hand. The equaliser came following a mix-up in the area as R.Leigh nipped in between two defenders to tuck the ball home. A draw looked to be beckoning as full-time approached, however, a speculative shot somehow found it's way into the Daggers net and with no time to respond they were left to reflect on another fine performance with nothing to show at the end. Both teams were once again a credit to their coaches and in a nice gesture, the Barking Colts manager took the boys to one side and told them that "he was glad he did not have to play us again in the run-in as Dagenham & Redbridge are the best team they have played against this season".
