This match was only given the go ahead after discussions between both managers and the referee as torrential rain in the morning had left parts of the pitch under water. Despite the wet conditions both teams proceeded to play some very entertaining football, although scoring chances were scarce. Sarvic started the stronger of the teams and pinned Daggers back during the first 10 minutes of the match and forced a series of corners which D&R defended well. However, Dagenham came back strongly towards the end of the half and began passing the ball around and carved out a couple of chances of their own. At the half time whistle the scores were level with neither goalkeeper having been seriously tested. Sarvic almost took the lead early in the second half, but Les Gillham superbly turned a well struck shot round the post. Midway through the half a spell of Daggers pressure finally forced the breakthrough when a fiercely struck left footed drive by S.Thorne clipped a defender on it's way into the net. Gillham had to make another fine save minutes later as he first parried then dived on an attempted lob. Minutes from the end J.Pomper made the game safe when the ball somehow slipped from underneath the goalkeeper giving him the easy job of poking the ball into an empty net. Daggers celebrated at the end as they had kept their first clean sheet of the season and given themselves hope of avoiding relegation from the 'A' division.
