Newell & Woolsey Depart
27/06/2000
Paul Newell and Jeff Woolsey have left the club to join Billericay Town. Jeff has signed for 1 year and Paul for 2. Paul Newell played in all of the Daggers' league games last season apart from the last match from which he was suspended. Jeff spent much of last season on loan at Billericay, previous to which he was loaned to Enfield. Billericay hoped to add a third Dagger, in Paul Cobb, but their £12,000 bid was rejected, although Cobb was out of favour for much of last season. He has told Garry he is prepared to stay and battle for his place, and Garry has accepted this and told him he is definately part of next season's squad.

At Ipswich he played 160 games before transfering to Boro for £600,000. After two years he again moved, this time to Man City for half a million. The Daggers have made their first signing of the close season by bringing in 6ft 3in forward Rob Haworth on a free transfer for St. Albans. Rob spent 4 seasons with the Saints after also playing for Fulham, Aylesbury, Kettering and Millwall. Garry Hill hopes that Rob will provide some aerial ability in attack, with the existing strike force lacking height and threat in the air.
