After two home defeats from two matches at Victoria Road, it was a more cautious Daggers side that started this match, as opposed to the attack-minded sides from the Kingstonian and Rushden games. Although all-out attack was not implemented, the Daggers still had many chances to score in the first half. Cobb was in the thick of it from the start, having a low shot deflected wide and looking confident in his play. Cobb almost opened the scoring from a Brennan free kick, when McDougald headed back and Cobb let fly with a acrobatic volley that flashed just wide. McDougald had a good left foot shot on the turn but it was just wide with the 'keeper covering it anyway. Mark Brennan also had a good chance when he hit a left fot volley from inside the box through a crowd of bodies only to see it go over the bar. The only real chances that Boston had were some crosses that were easily fielded by stand-in keeper Danny Honey. On 27 minutes, Cobb opened the scoring. A long ball into the box was poorly headed out by a defender, and straight onto the foot of Cobb who powered a right foot volley inches inside the 'keeper's right hand post. Matt Jones, having an outstanding game on the left almost added a second from a Cobb corner, but his header from a corner was just over. Danny Honey was then called into action to defend the lead, parrying a low shot well. Boston started to attack more after this sniff of goal, and the Daggers lauched a counter attack to score a second on 40 minutes. Matt Jones hit a superb 60 yard cross-field pass into the path of Janney who hit a first time low cross into the box which Paul Terry met with a diving header and which duly met the back of the net.

In the second half, the Daggers took the game to their visitors and dominated proceedings for about the first 15 minutes of the half. Junior McDougald had a good chance when he was free in the middle about twenty five yards out but his lob hit the post. Then Boston got a lifeline. After a good save from Honey, the follow-up struck the arm of a defender and a penalty was awarded. Honey picked the right direction but the ball just eluded his grasp. Then the Daggers created a series of chances. Janney hit a good ball across goal which Cobb couldn't quite reach, and the Boston keeper had to make some good one-on-one saves. Paul Terry almost scored with a header but the ball skimmed the post and stayed out. Cobb went through on goal and saw his first shot saved and his second float just wide. Cobb had another chance moments later when a Lee Goodwin shot was deflected to him and his delicate chip from an acute angle beat the 'keeper but not the defender on the line. Matt Jones went through and almost scoredbut the 'keeper was out quickly to block the ball to the right of his box. McDougald had the last Daggers' chance, beating the keeper to a long ball but then allowing the 'keeper to recover. The only bad news for the Daggers was the substitution of Shipp 30 seconds after he came on, after a tackle from behind left him on the turf and unable to move from the touchline for the remaining injury time, even when offered a stretcher.
