The Daggers attacked straight from the kick off, putting togerther some good passing and getting crosses into the box which were cleared. After 4 minutes of attack, the Daggers were caught on the break. Tony Daley, the ex-England winger, crossed the ball for a forward to head beyond Roberts. The Daggers still attacked and had some good chances to equalise. Steve Heffer screwed a volley horrible wide when he had time on the side of the box, and Cole had a header from a corner blocked by another ex-England player Nigel Spink on the line, the rebound cleared for a corner. Then Forest Green started to come back into the match. Slack marking lead to a second goal, when two forwards beat the offside trap and when the first was confronted by Roberts, he passed to the other to roll into an empty net. Steve Heffer could have got one back with a volley from 30 yards through a crowded box but Spink stopped the ball on its way into the bottom corner. Minutes later Rovers made it three, the defence failing to clear the ball and losing it on the corner of the box, for a forward to smash the ball into the far top corner from Roberts' right hand corner of the box, which rattled off the bar and the post before finding the back of the net. With minutes to go of the half, a Forest Green player was sent from the field. Steve Heffer seemed to foul the Rovers player, but nothing was given, and the Rovers player took it into his head to punch Heffer. This led to a frantic end to the half with the Daggers trying to find a goal. Brennan wrong footed Spink from a free kick but it trickled just wide. Then the Daggers should have had a penalty. Mark Janney tried to meet a left wing cross with a diving header, but was kicked across the chest 3 yards from goal, but a goal kick was signalled.

The Daggers came out in the second half not so much to a cheer but to silence. However, the spirited Daggers contrived to turn the game around. Minutes into the half, Matthews met a Brennan corner which nestled into the back of the net. The Daggers then went to a 3-4-3 formation from their original one of 4-5-1, Keen and Browne on for Cole and Terry. The Daggers continued to attack and the second goal came eventually through Jones. Matt Jones received the ball on the left wing before cutting inside and smashing a right foot shot into the far corner past a helpless Spink. The Daggers were nearly caught out at the other end though, their tricky winger cutting inside Vickers and moving forward before putting his left foot shot well over. Roberts was then called to keep the Daggers in it. Another Rovers breakaway was met by a double save from Roberts, from the original shot and the follow-up. Mark Keen had a chance to get on the scoresheet with a volley from 18 yards when unmarked but he hit it tamely at Spink. Then Keen did get on the scoresheet to equalise. A great cross from Janney was missed by all until Keen met it with a left foot volley that powered beyond Spink. Then Rovers hit the Daggers straight back. A corner was forced off Vickers, and the cross was met by an unmarked defender who headed past Roberts. Then Hill made his last throw of the dice, going to 2-4-4 by taking Matthews off and putting on Haworth. Stafford Browne nearly got the equaliser minutes after, charging down a clearance only to see it drop just over. Then the Daggers did equalise again. A high ball was challenged for by Haworth, but it was the home defender who headed past his own keeper to make it 4-4. Steve Heffer moved into the backline for the rest of the half, and the Daggers still attacked, but to no avail, but i'm sure they will be happy with a point.
