The Daggers notched up their fourth win on the bounce against relegation-threatened Forest Green, and also saw the return from injury of Tim Cole in the defence, allowing Broom to move back into midfield.
The Daggers made all the early running and could easily have been four up at half-time if not for the usual catalogue of missed chances. The first chance fell to McDougald as he found himself free on the edge of the box, but he looked as if he was not expecting the ball to reach him and his volley was easily saved by the keeper.
However, the Daggers did not take long to take the lead, and it came from Jason Broom who seems to have found some goalscoring form of late. Goodwin crossed the ball from the right and Broom ghosted in and directed a header across the keeper and into the corner.
Steve Heffer had a double chance for the Daggers when he went through. His touch took him away from goal more than he would have liked, but the keeper made a great save, and although it fell again to Heffer, he guided his left foot curler wide of the goal.
Junior McDougald also had a good chance when he ran down the left and cut inside before lashing the ball goalwards, but the keeper managed to dive onb the ball
McDougald forced the best save of the game from keeper Perrin with a header from a corner. Terry curled it in and Junior headed towards the top corner but the keeper managed to get a hand to it and push it over.
Danny Shipp made it two for the Daggers though. A backpass put the keeper under pressure and he sliced his kick to Shipp who beat the defender and guided the ball into the bottom corner.
Late on McDougald had yet another chance when he hit a left foot shot across goal and the keeper could only watch as it scraped the outside of the post and went out for a goal kick.
The second half was nowhere near as exciting as the first and there was not as much goalmouth action as the Daggers sat on their lead. They could have let Forest Green back into the game though, as they started to dominate for a 20 minute period.
However, Shipp nearly scored a thumping 30 yarder when the ball was laid back to him and he blasted goalwards only to see the ball tipped over by Perrin.
Forest Green had their first shot of the game when Roberts easily saved a long range low shot, but they did get one back midway through the half. A mix up in the box from a corner saw a header down eventually prodded in by Meechan.
However, with only injury time remaining, Broom clinched it with his second. Broom bundled through after being fed by McDougald and flicked a right foot shot into the top corner to give the Daggers the three points.
