This was not a good performance from the Daggers by any means but they did enough to secure the three points against Hednesford. The team was unchanged from the one that started against Yeovil, but Tim Cole was back albeit on the bench.

The Daggers had quite a bit of pressure but failed to create many chances, but could have scored when home keeper Gayle let a Paul Terry free kick hit him on the shins and rebound to Shipp, but Gayle was quick to smother at his feet.

Mark Janney did some good work down the right with McDougald and got in several crosses that were not attacked by anybody in the box, Danny Shipp looking a little out of sorts after his Yeovil heroics.

The Daggers were insisting on using long-ball tactics for some unknown reason, as were Hednesford, and the two Daggers strikers were not having a any joy from this as they were constantly climbed over by home defenders trying to head clear.

The Daggers' defence was also having trouble coping with Hednesford's long-ball approach at times, the quick wingers of the home side getting behind the Daggers defence on several occasions from long ball attacks, but the crosses were all cleared by the away defenders.

Indeed, Hednesford nearly made the Daggers pay for their lack of goals throughout their period of pressure, and could have taken the lead when they went through on goal but had the shot cleared off the line by Matthews after Roberts had tried to narrow the angle.

Another chance came soon after for the home side but they could only fire over from close range.

The second half was a bit better for the Daggers and after initial home pressure, they managed to play some football and scored a good goal. Paul Terry put the ball through for McDougald to chase, and he shrugged off the defender and backhealed to Janney who guided the ball into the top corner from inside the box.

Shipp could have added a second soon after when he tried to slide to meet a good left wing cross but he missed the ball by a matter of inches.

Heffer had another good chance for the visitors when Broom lost control and the ball broke to him, but as he swung his left foot at the ball he missed his kick and the danger was cleared.

Hednesford had a little pressure towards the end but didn't really look like scoring, and eventually substitute Opara made it safe. He beat his defender on the edge of the box easily and advanced on the keeper before beating him with a low left-foot shot.
