The Daggers were once again quick out of the blocks in this match and almost carved out an opening when Janney put in two crosses which were cleared. Hednesford had a chance of their own alomst immediately, and from it they took the lead. A defensive lapse saw the ball chipped in to a Hednesford forward who had time to turn and pick his spot from 12 yards. The Daggers attacked continuously after this and had many good opportunities. Mark Janney was instrumental, beating the full-back at will and putting some excellent crosses in. New boy Drewe Broughton had a good chance with his head but his effort fell wide from one of these crosses. Tim Cole also had a similar chance and his was also wide. Broughton was easily the forward with the most oppotunities, and almost equalised with a good shot on the turn which trickled wide. Broughton also had another shot which he tried to toe poke from 20 yards but it was well wide. The Daggers created a succession of three corners, two of which the keeper unconvincingly pushed behind and the third which was cleared. Broughton had another 2 chances before half time when he had a header which was pushed over by the keeper and another which was wide when he was unmarked from a Janney cross. However, just before half-time, Brennan equalised. Taking a free kick 40 yards out, he noticed the 'keeper poorly positioned on his penalty spot and hit a great lob which came down just under the bar and hit the back of the net. Hednesford then had a man sent off for elbowing Steve Heffer in the face, and the Daggers went in at half-time with the mental advantage.

The Daggers took the second half by the scruff of the neck. Junior McDougald put the Daggers ahead when Janney put an excellent low ball in and Junior met it with a diving header which powered into the net. Janney nearly got one when he chested down a corss but screwed his shot well wide. Broughton nearly opened his account when he put a good cross-goal header from a left wing cross just wide. However, Drewe Broughton made no mistake with his next two chances. The first came when Jones hit a good low shot which was saved, which Janney picked up and ran across the box, beating three defenders only to see his prodded shot saved, but Broughton was on hand to shoot high into the net. His second came when he had loads of time and powered a low right foot shot into the net from 18 yards. Junior thought he had added his second when he was left unmarked and put a high shot beyond the 'keeper but it was ruled out for offside. Broughton had a chance to seal his hat-trick when he was put through and tried to chip the ball over the 'keeper but it was easily caught. Paul Cobb, on only minutes earlier, then grabbed himself a goal. The away defence was once again carved open and Cobb placed his shot under the advancing 'keeper. Junior rounded up the scoring close to full time when Cobb made an excellent turn and dribble, and squared to McDougald who tapped in, albeit off the recovering 'keeper.
