Don't be fooled by the scoreline, the Daggers dominated this match and had enough chances to win three matches. The Daggers attacked from the kick off and had many chances to take the lead before eventually falling behind. The first two chances fell to Paul Cobb, the first a cross from the right that Cobb met with his head only to send it over the bar. The second chance that he wasted was one he would really have expected to score. He was put through from midfield and pulled off the shoulder of the last man to go clear. However, with bucket loads of time, he put a weak shot at the keeper who saved easily down to his right. Junior McDougald had the third chance for the Daggers, when he cut inside the right back and went one-on-one with the keeper only to see his powerful but poorly placed shot saved. The Daggers continued to create many openings and got many crosses into the box only to see them narrowly missed by the heads of attackers. Mark Janney also had two good chances when he went clear only to be matched for pace by an away defender and tackled well, and when he found himself unmarked with the ball only to see his low shot put round the post by the legs of the keeper. Then came the sucker punch. Kingstonian hit the Daggers on the break and after Matt Jones was dispossessed when he really should have cleared, a cross went straight in and was met by Eddie Akumoah at the far post who tapped the ball in. The Daggers continued to attack and had many more chances before half time. Steve Forbes forced the keeper into the best save of the match when he hit a powerful and accurate side-foot towards the goal but saw it well tipped round the post by the Kingstonian keeper. Lee Matthews had a chance from a corner when he steamed into the box but just failed to connect with the ball. Tim Cole also had a double chance when he headed from a corner only to see the ball return to him, from which he hit a left foot shot only to see it find the man on the line.

In the second half, the Daggers succumbed slightly in terms of possession but still created many more chances. In took just ten minutes of the half for the Daggers to find the equaliser. Mark Brennan received the ball about 20 yards out and he needed no invitations in hittong a left foot shot low into the keeper's left hand corner of the net. However, the Daggers were not level for long. Kingstonian attacked from the kick-off and were awarded a free kick near the corner flag. The ball was swung in and met with a header by ex-Sutton Sammy Winston, and he duly found the back of the net. The Daggers did not let themselves be overrun however, and continued to attack. Junior McDougald had a good chance when he burst into the box, but he was adjudged to have dived when he went down with Eddie Saunders of the away defence in close attendance. He also had another good chance when he received the ball inside the box but his shot was saved. Paul Cobb had a good chance when he was unmarked inside the box and slammed his shot against the outside of the post from a difficult angle. Mark Brennan almost found the equaliser again when he took a trademark freekick that slammed against the top of the bar, with the follow-up deflected over the bar. Matt Jones nearly caught the keeper out when he shot from 25 yards but his left foot shot was just over. Overall, the Daggers were by far the better side and created a box full of chances, and should take heart from this performance although it must leave them feeling robbed.
