The Daggers were slow to start in this match, although both teams were playing some pretty bad football. The Daggers were without influential Mark Brennan who had a knee injury, and decided on playing just one forward, Drewe Broughton. The Daggers nearly conceded very early, when Tim Cole made a poor backpass and a home forward tried to lob the advancing Roberts who plucked the ball out of the air. Paul Terry had a golden chance for the Daggers when he cut inside from the left and found himself free in the area but he blazed wide. Telford then had some chances at the other end that the Daggers did well to keep out. A shot on the turn from a home forward was well held by Roberts and another through the legs of Cole was also held well. The Daggers did not look very convincing for much of the half, as the lone forward did not allow an easy outlet pass when under pressure, and so possession was invariably wasted. Drewe Broughton had a chance at the other end when he chased a long ball towards goal alongside a home defender, and got there first only to see his close range chip pushed over by the home keeper. The Daggers then took the lead, with about 5 minutes of the half remaining. A cross from the right struck the hand of a defender and the referee was in no doubt as he pointed to the spot. Drewe Broughton was also in no doubt as he placed the ball just inside the 'keeper's right hand post. The Daggers then started to play some better football, but the only other incident of the half came at the Daggers' end. Roberts was doing his customary trick of not picking the ball up until he had to, after a long pass had run through to him, and a home forward was obviously not impressed, as he executed a lunging tackle at Roberts' legs with the ball already picked up. Robbo was obviously not very happy as he threw the ball at the forward, although he missed. Both players were booked for the incident.

In the second half, there were chances at either end, although it was still not a good match by any means. Paul Terry had the first chance when he put the ball well over the bar. The match then descended into a midfield battle, with both teams having occasional forays into the opposition's half. Mark Janney had some good runs down the right that were all eventually halted by the Telford left-back. This resulted in several corners, one from which Lee Goodwin was obviously being strangled by a home defender in the box, but the referee decided not to give it. Another corner was dropped by the home keeper, only for a foul to be given in his favour when Broughton looked ready to pounce. At the other end, there were several scares. The first of which came when a cross from the right was powered against the post by a home forward when he should have scored. Moments later Roberts was forced into a full length dive to his right to push a header from another right wing cross behind for a corner. Broughton had a chance at the other end when Paul Terry did some good work and pulled the ball back to him on the edge of the box, but he powered the ball well over. Danny Shipp had a chance when a well worked corner came to him to the right of the box, but his piledriver through a crowded box hit the side netting. The Daggers almost conceded at the other end though, when a cross was dropped by Roberts, but he then flung himself across his box to cling onto the loose ball. Right at the end, Janney had a run and shot which he put well wide.
