The Daggers dominated for much of the early period, several chances coming to Dagenham which should have been taken to put the game beyond Woking. The Daggers had 3 similar chances within the space of a few minutes where the ball was almost met by an attacker from Jones and Janney crosses only for it to be deflected wide for a corner each time. Janney should have scored when he went through on goal after a good through ball by Paul Terry, but he dragged his shot just wide. Broughton nearly set up a chance when he headed back arcross goal from a corner but the ball was cleared. Matt Jones nearly scored after some excellent play on the left but his shot was cleared off the line. Jones was also involved when he showed some great skill before crossing only to see the ball headed out. Junior McDougald eventually broke the deadlock just after the 20 minute mark. A cross from the left was met by the head of Junior who had ghosted in unmarked and the ball struck the underside of the bar before dropping in. However, Woking equalised almost immediately. The Woking left winger was being chased back by Paul Terry when a cross-shot was powered against Terry's hand, but the referee, who was abysmal throughout, gave the penalty for handball, although there was no way he could have avoided it. The ball was dispatched to Roberts' right hand side with Roberts guessing wrongly. The Daggers continued to attack for much of the remaining time, but to no avail. Brennan had a free kick that was headed away and several crosses went unchallenged, with Broughton not winning a ball in the air all day. With just injury time remaining, Woking took the lead. A counter-attack was lauched and two forwards went through, the first drawing Roberts before passing to the other to score.

In the second half, the Daggers once again dominated and had many chances to equalise and indeed win the game. Jones could have grabbed a goal when Janney beat a defender to the ball and ran down the wing before pulling the ball back to the unmarked Jones who failed to make proper contact with the volley. Janney was again in the thick of things when he was once again played through but he toe-poked the ball into the keeper's spread body. Tim Cole nearly scored a trademark header on two occasions, but the first was taken off his head by a defender and the second was blocked on the line by a defender. Broughton also had a header but he put it wide when well placed. It was Broughton who tried to turn the match despite his poor display. Seemingly boxed in by two defenders, he showed great strength and skill to find a gap through them and cut across the box before powering a shot that was pushed onto the post by the keeper. However, the referee gave an imaginery foul against Broughton. Mark Brennan had another free kick from about 25 yards, but his curler was tipped over by the keeper. Drewe Broughton had a final chance when he went through to one side of the box but he dragged his shot wide. Mark Keen and Cobb were both brought on late on, but they failed to turn the game. Keen did have one chance when the Woking keeper poorly punched out a cross, and the ball fell nicely for Janney to score but he scuffed his shot towards Keen, who only managed to miskick. At the other end, Tim Cole twice saved the Daggers from a worse scoreline when he chased back two counter attacks to make last ditch saving tackles on both occasions.
