The Daggers used a new formation in this game, playing 3-4-3 with Rooney playing in the middle of defence with Cole and Goodwin, and Janney and Jones filling in as wing backs. Paul Terry and Heffer played in midfield with Lock occupying a free role behind the forwards, Shipp and Junior.
It was an effective tactic on the day as the Daggers looked much stronger at the back and in midfield than their opponents, who were finding it hard to mark Lock nehind the forwards.
Yeovil had the first chance though, when Bent headed just wide when he met a cross from the left after he had found room at the back post.
However, the Daggers got the goal midway through the first half, when Goodwin rose to meet a Jones corner and head it into the top corner with the keeper stranded.
The rest of the half was a battle where both teams were competing for the ball all over the pitch, but the Dagegrs could have added a second with a piece of brilliance from Lock
He picked up the ball on the half way line and launched a 50 yard chip that threatened to catch Pennock off his line, but it just lacked an extra yard of distance and Pennock got back to save.
The second half saw more Dagenham chances, the first falling to Lock again. He picked up the ball and burst into the corner of the box and tried to curl the ball into the far top corner, the ball going the wrong side of the post by inches.
Lock did add a second for the Daggers though when some neat play on the right lead to Janney crossing from the by-line, and Lock was at the back post to guide his header into the net with the keeper trying to get back across his goal.
Yeovil did have a chance though when a cross to the back post was headed back and then again headed, this time goalwards, but the ball went over under a challenge from Rooney.
Late on, Cobb had a chance when Lock crosses and Cobb tried to head downwards, but it didn't have the accuracy or the power to beat the keeper who easily saved.
On the stroke of full-time, Paul Terry went through only to be given a dubious offside, but it didn't matter as the ref blew for full-time which signalled a return to winning ways for the Daggers.
It also signalled six points out of possible six taken from Yeovil by the Daggers, although Matthews, Broom and Vickers were out for the home team, although Patmore and Forington were missing for the Glovers.
