Piscopides Loaned Out

Paul Piscopides, the young striker signed after impressing in the youth team, has joined Ryman Premier club Heybridge Swifts on loan. He has made 2 substitute appearances so far for the Swifts.

Terry Extends

The Daggers are pleased to announce that the Paul Terry has signed a three year extension to his contract taking him up to May 2005.

ESC Draw

The Daggers have been drawn to play Harwich & Parkestone in the third round of the Essex Senior Cup. The game will be played at Victoria Road on Tuesday 6th November.

New Signings

The Daggers have secured the services of another two players. Danny Hill has been signed permanently after inpressing in pre season and ex-Stevenage defender Mark Smith has also joined after refusing a new contract at Boro. He joined the Broadhall Way club in 1992 and spent 9 seasons there. Born in 1967, he has played many games for the England Semi-Pro team and has toured 3 times with the Middlesex Wanderers. He joined Boro from Woking and made well over 400 appearances. He used to be a forward before going back to midfield and then defence where he has remained.

Play-Offs Blocked

The Football League have agreed with the FA and have decided to block the Conference play-offs, believing they are not in the interests of football. The winner of the Conference will now be promoted.

Forest Green KO Change

The game away to Forest Green on Saturday 1st September will now kick off at 2pm so that Daggers fans can get home in time for the England v Germany game.

Matchman Matthews

Match Magazine, a weekly football magazine that carries a table of the best performing players in each league, has presented its Conference award for 2000/01 to Lee Matthews. This week's magazine carries an interview with Lee. Other players in the top 20 were McDougald (6th), Shipp (8th), and Terry (14th).

Cobb Goes

Paul Cobb has completed his transfer to Canvey Island for a four figure fee. Paul spent four seasons with the Daggers after his £14,000 move from Purfleet and is the club's all time top scorer.

Billericay Off

The friendly away at Billericay Town scheduled for this coming Friday has been cancelled by mutual consent between the two clubs.

Fans Forum

Garry Hill made several interesting comments at last night's fans forum. He said that Cobby came back to training 17lbs over weight and so he was told he would never play for us again. Garry also said he has recently rejected a job at a Division 1 club and that the club has rejected an offer for McDougald from Cambridge United. He also said that Cottee will play for us if he decides to return to football. Dave Andrews added that the additional work for league grading will cost £50k.

Wignall Goes

Jack Wignall has left the club and joined Cambridge City. Wignall joined the Daggers during last season and made 6 appearances for the club.

New Signings

The Daggers have finally captured trialists Steve McGavin and Mark Stein on free transfers. Mark Stein is an ex-Chelsea, Bournmouth and Luton striker who has a proven record in front of goal and has commanded transfer fees of over £2m in total, who signs for one year. Steve McGavin is a midfielder or forward and played for Wycombe under Martin O'Neill. He decided to join the Daggers from Colchester on a two year deal despite an offer from Colchester to stay.

Trialist

The Daggers gave a trial to yet another player last night, Danny Hill formerly of Tottenham. The midfield player played against the Daggers for Spurs in a friendly a couple of years ago and was highly impressive.
