The Daggers started the game in style and it looked like another memorable night for the away fans could be on the cards. Sadly it will be, for the wrong reasons. The Daggers kept the same team with the exception of Broom in for the injured Jones.

The Daggers started at a pace that had Barnet on the back foot, and Paul Terry had a great early chance to beat the keeper when he was free in the box, but he blasted goalwards and Harrison saved. Charlery then headed the corner wide from about a yard out. Terry had another great chance that he skied over the bar, before Stein went through one-on-one but the usual end product was not there.

As we all know, you pay for not taking chances, and that's exactly what happened. Barnet came back into it but it was against the run of play when Toms came in to meet a right wing cross having lost Hooper to slot home.

With the win back formation the Daggers had, and with Barnet pushing their full-backs on, Hooper and Broom were constantly in two minds about whether to mark the defender or the winger. Barnet played some good football but posed little threat as the Daggers seemed content to go in 1-0 down at the break, although Doolan forced a good Roberts save from long range.

It all went wrong soon after the restart though, when Barnet scored again. Roberts completely misjudged the cross, before finally deciding to come and get it, but he only punched to Gower who rifled it in from the edge of the box.

The Daggers threw McDougald on much to the fans delight, but committed suicide by going to 3-4-3 with the midfield already outnumbered. However, it could all have changed had the referee given one of the most blatant penalties I have seen this season. A cross from the right was going to the back post. The defender went to chest it down, realised he had misjudged it and knocked it forward with his arm, and despite being 5 yards away, the ref gave nothing.

The Daggers were getting completely outrun in midfield by now and it was no suprise that they scored again on the breakaway. Although Roberts handled outside his box, Barnet went on to score and so Roberts was only booked.

Soon after, a Barnet played once again handled a cross, punching the ball out but once again the ref gave nothing. Barnet then added a fourth, the referee proving that can sometimes recognise a penalty, a forward scythed down and although the kick was saved, Gower hit his second from the rebound.

This started off looking like a good performance and ended as one of the worst of the season. The Daggers got their tactics wrong and too many people had bad games, and going to 3-4-3 only made it worse. The boys have bounced back before though and can do it again, we are still top with equal games played with Boston, however, it seems that movement up front is a problem and the lack of passing also.
