The Daggers secured three points to ensure that any result other than a Boston win at Hayes would give them the title. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be and the two teams ended level on points with Boston taking the title in the cruelest of manners, on goal difference.

This game started very badly as the Daggers looked too nervous to get going, and a renewed Chester under Mark Wright showed their battling qualities. Ashley Vickers was welcomed back for the final minutes after the new had already filtered through that Boston had won the title, with Broom also making an appearance.

The Daggers' efforts came from West who curled a free kick seemingly inside the keeper's left hand post only for Brown to get across and tip it behind for a corner. Lee Goodwin also smashed a header into the post towards the end of the half. Earlier on Shipp had missed a guilt edged chance as he controlled and volleyed way over the bar after a right wing cross.

At the other end, several offside decisions weren't going the home side's way and Roberts had to block David Brown on the edge of his box with his body, and later had to deny the same players who founf himself through on goal only for Roberts' superb reflexes and the underpowered shot combining for the save low to the left.

The Daggers threatened to break the deadlock oin the second half as Junior McDougald superbly crossed for Stein who completely miscued his finish, and it fell to Terry who did likewise from 6 yards. However, the same two players combined to score the first goal.

Paul Terry made a good run into the box and sent the defender the wrong way, before shooting towards the bottom corner. Brown made a good save, but Stein was on hand to tuck the rebound into the net from close range.

Very soon after, Stein made it two for himself and the Daggers. McDougald made the run onto a throughball, and despite being fouled by the defender, held him off and passed to Stein who knocked the ball into the net.

Chester struggled for chances throughout, and after a rather dull period, Cole wrapped it up with a near post header from a corner to show everybody that he is back and ready to go, unfortunately too late to help the title charge.

A great season nonetheless, and hopefully the Daggers can build on this as they did last time and make that extra small step to make it to the Football League, and bounce back from the heartbreak of the final day.
