Once again a not very good game but a good result. The rain and wind did not help at all, and both sides struggled to find any sort of form, with a total of 4 shots in the first half, three of them to Dagenham.
The start of the game saw the Daggers continually hit long balls that skidded off the wet turf and out for goal kicks. It took them a while to realise this wasn't working, and so played a bit more football towards the end of the half. Dover played little football in midfield but played a bit in the final third.
Dover had the first chance, as Scott met a cross but he was challenged to the ball and his header was well off target. Janney had a half chance when he tried a looping header from the edge of the box that went well over.
Stein's attempted cross towards the end of the half finished up as a shot as he turned on the byline and powered the ball goalwards, only for the keeper to meet it and spill it but nobody followed it in.
Terry had the best chance of all though when he had the ball laid back to him just outside the box and hit a left foot shot which he put over the bar.
The second half wasn't much better, and there were few chances at either end. Ken Charlery had the first chance as he turned his marker near the by-line and prodded goalwards from an acute angle but it went wide.
Stein tested the keeper with a good attempt. A right wing cross was deflected and he adjusted his body quickly to get his shot away but the keeper saved it quite comfortably.
Keith Scott had the best chance of the game for the home side though, which he somehow managed to miss. A corner found its way to him at the back post and with a free header that he diverted wide of the post.
However, disaster struck for the Daggers as Heffer was sent off. Jimmy Strouts had earlier steamed into Heffer well after the ball had gone and was booked, and when Heffer did the same to Strouts but not quite as late, to the amazement of the crowd he was sent off.
However, just 7 minutes after, the Daggers took the lead. The sending off seemed to give them some impetus, and they passed the ball around much better. The goal came as a run from defence by a Dover player was stopped by Terry who put a great ball through to Stein. He outpaced the defence and drove the ball low past the keeper with his left foot.
Towards the end, Dover had two shots that were easily saved by Roberts, but did not threaten to equalise at any point as the Daggers left with all three points for the seventh away game in succession.
