This was not a great match at all, the poor pitch and wind being main reasons for this. Ken Charlery started after his signing from Boston.

Farnborough started the better of the two sides and Piper curled an early free kick wide. The early part of the game saw no chances at either end really, but in the 20th minute there was an easy chance for Vansittart to open the scoring.

Roberts got a poor backpass and tried to beat the forward. He did so but the ball ran away from him and Vansittart shot home into the unguarded net.

The Daggers were nearly back in it straight away through Stein though. Charlery held off the defenders in the box and controlled Vickers' cross well. He poked it back to Stein on the edge of the box but he put it high and wide.
Stein had another chance soon after as he latched onto a great through ball but he couldn't quite control the ball and the chance was gone. However, the Daggers were back in it on the stroke of half time.

Charlery received a long ball and battled his way through the defence and the ball somehow went with him, and he then had an easy task to poke the ball past Farrelly and into the net.

With seconds remaining in the half, Janney had a half-chance as he controlled a pass and shot across the goal from a fine angle but Annon blocked his shot.

The second half wasn't much different to the first but there were a few more chances than the first half. Roberts had to smother at the feet of a forward as Farnborough pushed on, and Janney had a chance at the other end.

His low shot from the edge of the box went through a crowded box and the keeper got down well to push the ball round the post for a corner. A defender almost put through his own net as Farrelly just reached a spinning deflection that a shorter keeper wouldn't have saved, and Stein also had a chance.

He chased the ball down the left wing and hit a sweet left foot volley that looped up and would have dipped in but for Farrelly's height helping him catch it at the near post.

However, as the Daggers looked like they may get the points, Heffer was sent off in a strange decision by the referee. Heffer tackled a defender and won the ball and play carried on. However, several seconds later, the referee decide to blow up and send Heffer off for a second bookable offence.
The Daggers hung on with ten men as Roberts had to make two good saves low shots from the edge of the box through a crowded penalty area.

However, 10 minutes from time, Stein sealed the points. McGavin put a great left footed through ball over the defence and Stein ran between the centre halves, beat them for pace and lobbed the onrushing keeper.

Towards the end, Tony Lock was involved in a nasty incident. He ran through and beat a couple before running into a defender. He fell on the floor and as the referee waved away obstruction and turned his back to it to retreat to the half way line, O'Shea and another defender pulled Lock up and pushed him around, before one pulled him away in a headlock. The referee, who hadn't seen most of it, somehow decided to book Lock.

As the referee played 9 minutes of injury time despite the 4 minutes indicated by the fourth official, the Daggers held on for the win.
