Two new faces lined up for the Daggers, both in defence. Dean Hooper, on loan from Peterborough, took over at right back, and Steve West played in the middle of defence, meaning no place for Goodwin, Rooney or Cole. The midfield once again saw Danny Shipp, with Jones playing his second game after injury. Stein continued up front with Charlery.
It soon looked like it would be another one of those days, almost straight away the Daggers going a goal down. Holloway met a right wing pull back inside the box and slotted the ball inside the post with the defence looking at each other, probably trying to work out who they were playing alongside.
The Daggers pushed forward but the defence did not look secure, West finding his debut a little shaky, and the defence never looked convincing with its unfamiliarity. However, the Daggers kept much of the action in the other half. There was a lot of better football in the mid and final thirds of the pitch than have been on show recently and eveyone looked more busy than in the dismal display against Telford.
And it was a good move that gave Daggers a quick equaliser. The play went across the box several time as the Daggers tried to find openings, and finally did get one as Charlery laid the ball back to Shipp who passed it into the bottom corner to make it 1-1 within ten minutes.
If this promised a goal-fest, it was a false dawn, and although the Daggers kept the ball well, there was only two more goal attempts from the home side in the remainder of the half. Charlery had a chance, a corner was headed back across goal and he headed it across the keeper, and defender cleared it off the line, although it was debateable whether it was on target.
The only other real chance was rewarded with a goal though. A long range free kick was pumped into the box, and Charlery got the knock-down for Stein to nip in poke beyond the keeper for his 16th Conference goal in just 21 games.
Farnborough had a long shot that didn't trouble Roberts, and although they did split the defence several times, there was nobody on hand to score.
The second half was a disappointment after the promising play the first had produced. Farnborough came out much stronger than in the first half, and pinned the Daggers back for a large period. However, the Daggers had the best of the early chances. Stein headed a good chance straight at the keeper, and then, after being put through by Charlery, slipped and put his shot wide.
Farnborough held the upper hand territorially for much of the half though, and had some good chances of their own to get something from the game. Roberts seemed uncertain as he palmed out a cross from the left to Watson who looped a shot against the top of the bar.
Charlery should probably have had a penalty when he was pushed over in the box, but the referee, who after a good first half, faded somewhat, was not impressed. At the other end, Piper went down under Roberts challenge and got a similar response, so it evened out in the end.
However, Roberts had to save a point with a world class save. A right wing cross was met by Baptiste and he headed back across goal. Although Roberts was moving the wrong way to follow the cross, he still managed to dive full length and push the header out to the crowd's amazement.
