The Daggers started this game with no width on the left as Brennan, Heffer and Shipp played in the middle of midfield and Janey on the right in a lop-sided 442 formation. Jim Rodwell made his debut in the back line with Rooney dropping to the bench.
The Daggers looked lethargic and slow from the start and it didn't help that Forest Green took an early lead when Heggs headed down a corner and although Roberts saved, Cooper stabbed the ball home.
This did not seem to lift the Daggers though and the game was a poor spectacle. Forest Green held some territorial advantage for periods without creating chances but did nearly score on the breakaway when Travis ran the length of the field before firing wide.
The Daggers started to play a little better after this and the equaliser came through Ken Charlery. A left wing cross was chested down to Janney by McDougald and his shot came back off the keeper for Ken to slot the rebound in.
After this, the Daggers seemed to revert to a slow paced game that did not even look like producing a goal and the half peetered out into a non-event. However, on the stroke of half-time, Charlery could have put the Daggers on top when Goodwin's cross beat the defence and Charlery came in round the back to head at the keeper and he made a comfortable save.
The second half carried on where the first had left off and most of it was a poor affair. However, the final 20 minutes saw a Daggers onslaught to try and get the advantage. Hayzelden came on to give the Daggers more width and Terry entered the fray to give some drive to the midfield.
Junior McDougald could have had a penalty or at least an indirect free kick in the box when he went through after a great ball from Heffer, but the defender went with him and pulled him back, but the ref wasn't interested.
Lee Goodwin headed wide from a corner from Brennan, and Shipp hit a fizzing free kick that was straight at the keeper. At the other end the Daggers survived a scare as Roberts managed to smother a Travis shot with Rodwell clearing the loose ball.
However, the Daggers kept going forward and Heffer hit a volley just over the bar, and Paul Terry followed suit with a volley miles over the bar. The Daggers best chance fell to McDougald though.
Charlery crossed to the back post and Junior metit only to divert it against the post and out. The Daggers had another penalty appeal when Shipp's cross was seemingly punched away by a defender.
Hayzelden's poor cross nearly turned into a great goal as Perrin had to backtrack to push it over the bar. Terry had a speculative overhead kick go straight at Perrin before another glorious chance.
Ken was played through with a ball over the top and he tried to square to McDougald for a certain goal but he scuffed it and the pass went straight to a defender. Apart from this last 20 minute spell though, it was a poor display from the Daggers but they could so easily have won the game had the chances been put away.
