The Daggers missed the chance to take over at the top with Boston losing 2-0 at Scarborough, with a late goal from player/manager Phil Robinson. The Daggers' injury and suspension problems were evident as McDougald, Stein, Hooper, West, Rooney, Vickers and long-term absentee Matthews were missing, as well as Charlery having to go off injured in the first half.

The first half was quite an open affair as both sides went for goals, and Hereford were the first to threaten. A free kick was whipped across goal and nobody could stretch enough to meet the ball much to the Daggers' relief. The visitors had another let-off soon after as a header from a cross hit the inside of the post and bounced down to Smith on the line who could clear.

However, the Daggers also posed a threat and hit the post themselves when Charlery beat the keeper only for the ball to come back to Janney. His follow-up was charged down and met with handball cries before Terry smashed it over. Snape did a similar thing at the other end as he smashed a long range shot well wide of the goal. Quiggin also posed a threat and he dribbled goalwards only to hit it at Roberts, and the same player just failed to reach Clarke's cross soon after.

The Daggers had another chance from a corner, which the keeper missed and the ball was headed over Baker only for it to be cleared off the line. Charlery had to depart on 40 minutes, but the Daggers still had time for Janney's cross shot to drift just wide of the far post, and Janney also failed to play the correct pass as players lined up to score at the back post as the Daggers broke forward. Robinson also headed over at the other end to give the Daggers a warning shot.

The second half was nothing like the first, and although the Daggers started to edge it, they couldn't really create any decent chances, shown by Hill and Terry who shot well wide and well over respectively. Matt Jones had the golden chance though, as a long throw fell to him in the box and his shot lacked the power to beat Baker who made a good save low down. Clarke threatened to hit the visitors on the break and as players waited to score, his cross was too close to Roberts.

McGavin came on for Jones to little effect, and Williams hit the side netting from an acute angle when half the ground thought the ball was in. The Daggers were also lucky when Terry tried to head back to the keeper, only to set Quiggin away but Smith covered well. However, Hereford won the game in the 89th minute. Robinson headed home from a corner, and by then it was too late for the Daggers, despite Roberts' adventures into the Hereford half.
