The Daggers picked a strange looking side for this game, Goodwin returning, but Heffer and Rooney not included. This meant a back three with McGavin suprisingly coming into the midfield. Hayzelden and Janney had to play as wing-backs which meant the wings looked a source of threat for the away side.

Margate started quite well and Akpo Sodje, very lively along with Braithwaite up front, powered a shot goalwards that Goodwin did superbly to block with a last ditch challenge. They also had another shot but that was well over the bar.

At the other end, Hayzelden had an early chance. The ball fell to him at the back post and with the kepper nowhere to be seen, he steered his shot wide with the goal gaping.

Roberts had to be alert in goal for the Daggers. A cross/shot was well parried by Roberts and with Sodje running in, a goal seemed certain, by Roberts was up and scooped the ball off his foot.

Hayzelden was also in the action, but for the wrong reasons and at the wrong end this time. He was shielding a ball out but wasn't aware enough, and a Margate played came in and shot across the goal which somehow evaded the both posts and went wide.

McGavin shot over after Stein had chested the ball down to him, and Lamb hit a shot from the edge of the box that was easily gathered by Roberts. Stein had a good chance for the Daggers though.

As the half came to an end, the Daggers played some better football it was from this that Stein had his chance. It ended with Stein latching onto a pass but he couldn't quite reach it and the keeper gathered it.

Until the break, the Daggers played some good stuff and although the final ball was lacking, it was much better than in recent weeks.

In the second half, the Daggers exploded out of the blocks and scored two in quick succession. The first came when Hayzelden ran at the defence and cut inside, but as he was about to cross, the defender pushed him over. McGavin blasted the penalty past the keeper.

Then, soon after, Stein added a second. Edwards fell on the ball and although he hand-balled in the box, the ball bounced to Stein who needed no prompting to lash the ball past Turner with his left foot.

However, this prompted Margate into their best spell and they put the pressure on the home team in terms of territory. It wasn't long before they were back in it, when Williams flicked on a corner and Beard scrambled it in.

Braithwaite had a chance when the ball bounced across the box and he volleyed goalwards from a tight angle, but Roberts' reactions were top notch to catch the ball.

Hayzelden had a great chance on the break that was all created by himself. He picked the ball up on the wing, beat the full back and came inside. He ran across the box and lashed a shot that looked like it would bulge the net, but Turner made a great save to tip it round the post.

However, the Daggers had time for two more before the end, both from Charlery who had had an indifferent game up until then. His first came when Terry curled in a great free kick across the face of goal and Charlery threw himself at it to head past Turner. Goodwin also had a header from a corner that was wide and McGavin had a low shot straight at the keeper.

However, there was time for one more. Junior McDougald, on for Stein, was running the defence ragged with his trickery and as he and Hayzelden combined to make them look totally stupid, Hayzelden backhealed to Junior who was tripped inside the box. Ken Charlery placed his penalty inside the post.
