This was another uninspiring match but another in which the Daggers triumphed to maintain their lead at the top of the Conference. Broom came in for the suspended Heffer and Charlery was back up front.
Within the first few minutes, MacKenzie weakly punched Terry's corner to Smith who should have done better with his lob that was well over the bar.
At the other end, Lee Charles finished weakly with a good chance. He got the ball just near the edge of the box and he tried to lift the ball over Roberts but only succeeded in lifting it into the home keeper's arms. The Daggers could not get any clear cut chances as every time a through ball was played, the linesman insisted on flagging for offside, even though in many of the cases it was blatant that he was wrong.
However, Nuneaton nearly scored for the Daggers as Charlery's right wing cross was headed just over his own bar by a defender under pressure from Hayzelden. The Daggers also had several long shots saved.
Broom's weak long ranger was easily held by MacKenzie, but he had to do much better to save Stein's volley from the edge of the box through a crowd of bodies and also McGavin's low drive from 18 yards.
It was definately not all one way though, as Nuneaton had chances of their own. Charles had another weak finish at Roberts before an 18 yard drive was well saved by Roberts.
Nuneaton gave the home side a big scare with a header from a free kick. Angus met it at the back post and looped his header over Roberts only for it to strike the top of the bar and go over.
Nuneaton should also have had a penalty in the first half. As they broke, Smith tried in vain to get back and put in a last ditch tackle inside the box that got nowhere near the ball, but the referee decided not to award it.
In the second half, the Daggers were more dominant in terms of possession but did not really have any chances until Hayzelden gave them the lead midway through the half.
Charlery received a pass and turned well before feeding McGavin. McGavin run onto it and his low shot from a tough angle was blocked by the keeper but rebounded straight to Hayzelden who guided the ball past a defender on the line.
Danny Shipp had a shot from 18 yards after he entered the action that was saved low down by the Boro keeper. Nuneaton had the best chance of all though.
A ball across the box was not cut out and went through to the back post where it was met with a ferocious volley that looked to be going in before it hit another forward and went just over. Nuneaton also had another low long shot that was easily saved by Roberts.
The Daggers made the game safe in the dying seconds though. Shipp was pinned in the corner by a defender, but for some reason he backed off, allowing Shipp to cross to Charlery who was unmarked 12 yards out and he headed across the keeper and into the back of the net.
