The Daggers took a valuable three points from a tough game at Broadhall Way as veteran striker Mark Stein netted a hat-trick for the visitors. The Daggers made one change with Shipp in place of McGavin in midfield.
The game started badly with both sides failing to string anything coherant together. The main threat was Jude Stirling whose long throws into the box caused the away side some problems. However, the game came alive after a mistake by Greygoose.
A cross from the right was dropped by the home keeper at Jones' feet and he scuffed his shot, allowing Trott to clear. Darran Hay had a chance at the other end as he met a right wing cross but he shouldered it into the arms of Roberts with the marking all over the place.
The Daggers proceded to get the better of the half in terms of chances. Lee Goodwin went forward and hit a low shot just wide, before Terry met a right wing cross but weakly headed at the keeper. Mark Stein also had a header well saved by the home keeper who reacted well to push it around the post.
At the other end, Stevenage had their chances, Sigere hit a shot at Roberts, and the home team had one shot flash past the upright which Roberts had covered, and Goodliffe fired over when he couldn't get over the ball properly.
However, just as it looked that both defences had got away with clean sheets from the first 45, Stein popped up to put the league leaders ahead. Hooper took on the defence, powered through and crossed to the back post where Stein lashed the ball across the keeper and into the net.
Stevenage came out of the blocks well in the second half and stayed in the game for a long time as they had a lot of the possession. Kirk Jackson had a goal disallowed when he was caught offside. Sigere had two chances when he headed wide from a right wing cross when it was easier to score, and then headed another over. The Daggers had been given their warning and hadn't taken enough notice though, as Sigere had a third header that he made no mistake with.
From an inswinging corner, Sigere met the ball to head high into the net past Roberts.
Stein had previously wasted a good chance when Charlery found him unmarked in the box and he volleyed just wide of the post from 12 yards, but he made sure with the other chances that came his way. He got a rather lucky goal soon after Sigere to put the Daggers back in front, as he charged down a clearance on the edge of the box and it came off his shin and looped over the keeper and into the net.
The Daggers then played some excellent stuff as they proceded to outplay Stevenage for the remaining 15 minutes in an excellent display of attacking football. It was Stein who sealed it with just under 10 minutes left. From a Terry free kick, the defenders marked the big men, and left Stein free to head home from 6 yards and make it safe.
McDougald should have done better when Shipp made the full-back look silly and crossed onto his foot but he put it wide from 6 yards. Broom had two long shots, one well wide and another that flashed just wide as the Daggers played the final minutes out in good style.
