The Daggers notched up another good result against a Stevenage side that was quite strong at the back but faltered up front on a few key occasions. They only registered one on-target effort in the whole game whilst the Daggers struggled to finish the opposition off.
The match started off poorly but came into life with a chance for Paul Terry that he should have scored. A right wing cross was met by Terry's head but the effort was poorly directed and saved by Greygoose.
Mark Stein also had a chance when he cut inside from the left and hit a shot goalwards from an acute angle that was saved by the Boro keeper. There was also a scare at the other end though.
Roberts miscued his clearance straight to Clarke who took a couple of paces before hitting it just over with Roberts back in his goal. Stevenage also had another similar shot that went just over.
On 40 minutes the Daggers took the lead. Stein was given the ball 15 yards out before turning and unleashing a scorching drive into the top corner of the goal that gave the keeper no chance.
It took some great play by Roberts to keep the lead intact though. Illman met a left wing cross from a couple of yards and diverted goalwards but Roberts made a great reaction save. The follow up through a crowded box was just wide.
In the second half, the Daggers had chances to seal the points. Goodwin met a corner and headed at the keeper who palmed the ball away, and Goodwin also went on a run that ended with a shot wide of the goal.
Janney had a great chance when the impressive Broom crossed to the back post but his chest control gave the ball to the defender who cleared. Tony Lock also cut inside and whipped the ball just wide of the goal.
Stein had the best effort though. He got the ball on the edge of the box and volleyed goalwards only for it to be deflected just wide by a defender. Stevenage had a great chance at the end to get a point though.
A left wing cross came in low across the box and Hay couldn't quite reach the ball and it sneaked just wide of the far post. So another good win that sent the Daggers four points clear.
