The Daggers welcomed back top scorer Stein, Matt Jones, and Danny Hill. With the inclusion of these players, you may be forgiven for thinking the Daggers were going to produce a top notch display. Goodwin, McDougald, Charlery and Smith were rested though, and a back 3 employed, which has never really worked for the Daggers. However, the standard of performance can be given no excuses - it was diabolical.

The committment that has been a constant factor in promotion to the Conference and the third place gained last season was sadly non-existent. The Daggers struggled to hit the target throughout the game, and were outbattled by a determined Telford side.

Telford had an early long range shot at Roberts, and Stein headed over the bar after some good football - about the only good move of the match. Stein also had the ball taken off his toes after Hill had put him through.

The only actual chance of the whole half was Telford's, and as we found out a few weeks earlier - they take all their chances. A corner was headed down and Smith poked the ball in.

The second half was just as poor. Both sides continued to hoof the ball the length of the field - something Telford seem to have perfected. None of the Daggers returnees looked anywhere near fit, and the others seemed to have an eye, no make that a stare, on Monday's game at Stevenage.

Broom came on and gave it his all, but it wasn't enough to inspire the rest of the side. Telford doubled their lead just after the hour, when Roberts sliced his clearance across his own box, and Quayle passed into the open goal.

The Daggers tried to get back into it towards the end, but the heart wasn't there and it was much too little too late. Tim Cole came on and he also was off the pace. There were few chances at either end for the remainder of the game, which wasn't anything of a spectacle for the fans - the amount of long ball on show gave everybody neckache looking into the sky to keep track of the ball. The ground emptied well before the end, and those that stayed couldn't muster applause for an appaling display.
