The Daggers again rested several first team players and those that did play were again not at the races as a hard-working Forest Green exploited a weak defence to score five goals. Steve Potts was again playing, with Broom starting at left back. West was a lone striker as Shipp and Stein didn't feature in the squad and Junior still injured. Janney returned ahead of the play-offs.

Forest Green took a 25th minute lead through Grayson. A corner came in and it found its way to Grayson who headed the ball goalwards. It was chested down behind the line and caught by Gothard but the goal was given quite rightly by the linesman. The Daggers almost scored as a West header threatened to loop over Perrin but he tipped the ball over the bar. West almost went through but was halted at the last second by a mixture of goalkeeper and defender. Grayson shot at Gothard from the edge of the box, but Richardson made no mistake with the second.

Gothard was beaten to the ball by Odejayi with his head, and although the ball came back off the post, Sykes' cross was bundled over the line by Richardson. Odejayi was getting some joy up front as he had both aerial and pace advantage over Potts and was most of the home side's threat.

Just before the break, West reduced the deficit as he went through and this time made no mistake to slot home past Perrin. After the break it didn't take long for the Daggers to get back on level terms.

Janney's cross beat the near post defender, and Terry came in to give the ball a helping hand across Perrin who could only watch the ball nestle in the back of his net. However, this was a short lived experience for the Daggers who soon capitulated.

Odejayi found himself up against Potts and skinned the former West-Ham man to go through on goal. Gothard made a good save but still no defenders reacted and Grayson could put the ball away for his second goal. West was then taken off injured, leaving the Daggers with no strikers. Tim Cole and John McGrath were the emergency force up front.

Odejayi got his goal straight after. Again skinning the defence of Smith and Potts, he rolled the ball past Gothard to put Forest Green firmly on top. Just two minutes later, that man Odejayi, obviously realising all his Christmas's had come at once being left one-on-one with ageing Potts, set up Cowe to complete the rout and leaving the home crowd in raptures.

Tim Cole tried his best up front and proved a good stand-in, but his runs were halted probably 10 times by the sometimes farcical flag of the linesman. On one such occasion he ran through two defenders to receive and pass, and finished to Perrin's right, the flag denying him. McGrath found a shot from nothing which was easily saved by Perrin, and Smith found himself free with the bounce of the ball beating him, but it was scant consolation for a terrible defensive display akin to that on Easter Monday.

Last day drama saw Southport slip into the relegation zone having been in a playoff position earlier in the season, and Nuneaton also went with Woking escaping. Chester's point at Yeovil was immaterial with them finishing 4th, Morecambe 2nd and Doncaster 3rd, meaning the Daggers play Morecambe, first leg this Thursday at Victoria Road.
