Both sides came into this game on the back of good runs and a tight game was expected. New Daggers Pitcher and McGrath made debuts, McGrath particularly impressive on the left of midfield with his passing and fitness. Pitcher seemed to struggle a little with the pace after so long without first team football at Brighton, but showed some good touches. Injured Paul Bruce and Danny Hill made way.

The game started fairly well for the Daggers who had some good chances early on. West headed wide under pressure on two occasions and Paul Terry forced the keeper into a low save to his right after the Daggers midfielder hit a deflected effort. Halifax were not really having many chances although they had one long shot that cleared the bar by some distance. However, poor marking was to cost the Daggers dear in a ten minute spell that saw them fall three goals behind. From a corner, Killeen came in at the near post and had all the space he needed to head beyond Roberts. Within a few minutes it happened again in the same way except this time it was Fitzpatrick.

The Daggers tried to hit back and McGrath's superb cross beat everyone to find Pitcher at the back post who kicked thin air with the goal beckoning. McGrath also steamed in on a Janney cross to head down which the keeper did well to hold inside his right post. However, the third came soon after as another corner, this time from the other side, was sent to the back post and Hartfield this time was the man to have the space and head across Roberts into the corner. This was a hammer blow to the Daggers who had made a lot of the goal action at the other end.

The Daggers started to fall apart slightly after this and lost a lot of the rhythm they had. However, this didn't stop West pulling one back just before the break when he threw himself into the path of a Hartfield clearance and watched from the ground as it looped over the keeper and found the back of the net.

A Daggers onslaught was expected in the second half and it failed to materialise at first as the game turned into a dull affair, Halifax happy to launch 80 yards clearances as the Daggers searched for inroads. However, they managed to click and came on strong as they tried to get back into the game. They got closer to this with Junior's first. Janney's cross was spilt by Morgan and West clipped it over the keeper for Junior to score. This got the Daggers going again as they laid siege to the Halifax goal. Minutes later, McGrath's superb cross was headed wide at the near post by West.

However, the Daggers didn't give up and Junior added his second and the equaliser with less than 10 minutes left. A superb through ball by Terry saw Junior run clear as neither centre back marked him. He coolly rounded the keeper and slid it into the net with his left foot to cap a superb comeback. Towards the end, Shipp was superb as he ended up at right back as we have seen several times, and Vickers also made an impressive sub appearance. The Daggers could indeed have stolen all the points as Junior broke down the left and his cross seemed destined for West's boot and the back of net but the defender made a superb interception.
