Neither side looked particularly interested in taking this game by the throat, although even at half pace, the Daggers created enough chances to win several games, but poor finishing, good saves and lack of sharpness cost the Daggers the easy route through and gave them an extra game on Tuesday in the replay.

A lack of Janners was still evident on the Daggers' right side, and also an absence of Meercat at left back where Matthews deputised, giving Potts a start in the middle. Three up front continued but with not such devastating effect as on Tuesday.

The first chance for the Daggers came early on from a corner as an initial header was diverted by Junior but just over the bar. Soon after, Junior's fierce shot was deflected wide of the target. Another Junior effort was saved low to the keeper's left. Another good early chance fell to Stein who curled his left foot shot over the bar from inside the box. The best chance was for McGrath though who got through on the keeper only for him to make a save.

At the other end, the deputising Mark King lookalike that is Gothard was having a solid game and he made a good save as Wheatcroft was allowed to turn on the edge of the box and curled towards the top corner which Gothard got two strong hands to and pushed over the bar. He then made another very good save when Nolan's back post header seemed to be heading for the far corner until Gothard's leg kept it out. Looking more confident, he caught a couple of crosses well after this. Right before half time, McGrath got round the back on the right and pulled it back only for the finish to be straight at the keeper.

After half time, the Daggers continued in similar fashion in creating and not finishing their chances. The best early chances were two free kick, one from West that thundered into the hands of Dickinson and another curler from McGrath that ended in the same place. At the other end, Gothard had an amazing zero shots to save, the only job that employed him was several goal kicks.

Lee Matthews had the best chance of the game with a back post header after Junior had flicked McGrath's cross on, but the ball came back off the far post with the keeper beaten. McGrath shot just wide of the target with a long range effort, and Danny Hill's first touch after coming off the bench was a snap shot that went well wide.

Stein also had some good chances, as he rolled one wide of the target with his left foot after being put through and then hit another one across goal that Lane almost put through his own net. He had another volley that seemed a certain goal until a defender threw himself in the way of the ball to stop it. As the game started to fall away a bit, Hill tried to make the difference with some intelligent play and almost got Shipp away in the last minute but he was caught by a defender.
