The expectation of a West Ham first team brought a decent crowd, but despite having a contract with the club which says that in return for using Victoria Road for the reserves, they must send their first team for this friendly, they decided not to. Once again, it was a mixture of youths and reserves with the odd first teamer thrown in, such as Labant and Pearce. The Daggers fielded pretty much a full-strength side.
The Daggers made most of the early running as they had some good efforts from corners, as well as a shot just wide from the edge of the box and a good chance from McDougald. Hill, who again showed his class, played a great ball to the back post and Stein turned it back for McDougald to send it wide from a few yards out.
West Ham then came back, as Camara had one chance that went off for a throw, and also shot at Roberts when through on goal, and Sofiane shot wide from a couple of yards after another Roberts save from Camara. However, Camara made amends when he gave the Daggers defence a few yards head start in a foot race but showed unbelievable pace to go through and finish it.
The second half was not so good and had much less fluency after the usual glut of substitutes. However, Stein scored to make it level when Perkins headed back to Stein who shot home from close range. There was then a lack of actio at both ends, although Allen missed a good chance for West Ham which he put wide as he shot across goal.
Just when it looked like a draw, Camara popped up in the last minute to turn in box and shoot past Roberts to give West Ham XI the win.
