This was never going to be a classic, and so it proved. The Daggers made a host of changes, Potts, Rooney and Gothard getting rare starts, with Danny Hill, Jason Broom and Paul Terry getting back into the team also. Mark Smith made a last minute transition from the stand to the pitch as Tim Cole got injured in the warm up and Smudge came in to deputise, giving a masterful performance at the heart of the defence to keep Nade in check.
Woking came out the better, pushing the Daggers back without creating a lot as they forced several corners. One of these beat everyone and was finally cleared by West at the back post as it threatened to deflect in. Other than this, Gothard seemed much more decisive in dealing with crosses. He also had to make a good save to keep the scores level. Townsend hit a low drive through a crowd from the edge of the box which Gothard turned away, Heffer clearing the rebound.
At the other end, West was having a quiet game, but Stein was showing his experience with some clever touches to link with Danny Hill who was passing the ball well. He put Rooney away and his shot was saved at the near post by Bayes, the ball coming at a nice height for him to stop.
The second half saw Shipp's introduction and he soon forced Bayes to tip away his long shot that was going for the inside of his left hand post. Shipp then also received a Danny Hill pass to crash the ball against the bar from 25 yards, the ball dipping late and coming closer than anybody to finding a goal to break the deadlock. Danny Hill also tried a cheeky lob from 40 yards on the turn with his left foot which went just wide with Bayes scrambling across his goal.
Woking came back later in the half though. Townsend tackled Terry and thundered a shot goalwards, the ball wobbling in the air and heading for the top corner, but Gothard made a good save to tip it away. The influencial Hill made way for Vaughan's first league appearance for some time, and he almost immediately injured himself trying to make a tackle, leaving the Daggers with 10 men. There was still time for Smith to come onto Nade's pass and thunder over the bar from the edge of the box though, but that was it for the game with the Daggers moving up to 4th with Champions Yeovil the visitors on Monday.
