The Daggers managed to get an extra point on the board after this game, but most Daggers will be disappointed after not taking all three points which were really there to be had. The only change to the team was with Mark Rooney replaced by Mark Janney.
The Daggers were hoping to keep a clean sheet after recent games in which many goals have been conceded, and got off to the worst possible start when Barry Moore opened the scoring. A cross from the right was headed only partially clear by Matthews and Moore, who was looking to put recent criticism behind him, responded superbly to hit a volley past Roberts into the top corner in similar fashion to Steve West at Hereford, only Moore was a few yards closer.
However, but for this setback which incidently was Woking's only shot on goal in the whole match, the Daggers played some good stuff and should really have surpassed just the equaliser they got. Mark Janney was in scintilating form on the right as he got over several excellent crosses. Lee Matthews headed wide of the target when well placed and then Mark Stein had a good chance at the back post as he tried to curl his volley in at the far post only to put it over.
You could sense a goal was coming and who better to score it than the deserving Mark Janney. The Daggers broke with pace and when Janney was put through one-on-one by Stein he drew the keeper before slamming the ball across the goal and just inside the far post to score an excellent goal. Allman at left back for Woking was having a nightmare trying to stop the flying winger.
After this Danny Hill nearly scored but for a good save by Jalal. He received the ball just outside the box and whipped a left-footed shot low towards the bottom corner but the on-loan Spurs keeper was equal to it to palm it away. The Daggers were playing with a good tempo and spent most of the half in Woking's half of the pitch. John Keeling also had a low shot on goal when he cut in from the left wing.
The second half saw a completely different Daggers side. Terry, injured, was replaced by Danny Shipp, and the Daggers' game dropped in pace considerably. This meant a lack of chances and a lack of good football in the final third as the game petered out into a stalemate. Mark Janney almost created a chance when he whipped a ball across from the by line only for it to fly across just in front of Jalal and also Steve West who tried in vain the launch himself at the ball. Paul Bruce also had a chance when he came in on another Janney cross, but he hit his right foot shot straight at the keeper from 12 yards. Bruce was later taken off with blood coming from his knee, leaving the Daggers with 10 men.
However, Woking were already down to 10, after Ben Abbey had been sent off. After a booking for kicking the ball away, he was then booked again for diving as he fell over in the box after hanging his let out over Potts' challenge to try and win a penalty. Junior came on to make it three up front which was pointless seeing as Junior's game is running into space, but with three strikers and therefore more defenders, there was little space for him at all. Steve Perkins was also being caught in possession on occasions as the Daggers ground to a halt.
