Chelmsford City 0 Daggers 2
Friendly - 30/07/02

In a fairly competitive but uninspiring game, the Daggers went away with a two goal win via Mustafa and new boy Scott. The Daggers fielded four of their new signings from the start, with one more coming on as a sub. Youngsters Murat and McGowan were also given a run out in the second half.

The game was even for the most part, and the Daggers had some nice approach play, with Keith Scott impressive in his holding up of the ball and bringing people into the game with his back to goal. Meechan looked very sharp even with slightly wayward shooting. Scott had the first chance when Bruce got in a low cross which wasn't cut out and Scott got in to fire over from close range. At the other end, Matthews was looking very short of fitness and the offside was broken by Dale Watkins but he blasted it over when one-on-one.

Mustafa scored the opener after good work by Scott and Bruce, the former crossing to the back post where Tarkan slid in to score. At the other end, Matt Jones was swinging in some good corners which the Daggers defence had to be strong to deal with. Bruce also had a chance after being sent away with a good pass. He cut inside on his right but his shot was parried away by Nichols.

Lee Goodwin was guilty of a bad tackle which he was lucky to stay on for, and Bruce was also being subjected to some physical behaviour.

Second half again saw another guilt edged miss from Chelmsford, but the Daggers held on to their lead. The game was sealed by Scott when he started a move, passing it out to the right, before receiving the cross in the middle to punch it home with two hands. The goal stood.

One home player was sent from the field towards the end for kicking out at Ashley Vickers.
