Name - Steve Heffer
DOB - 11/01/73
Position - Defence/Midfield
Nickname - Heffs/Babbel

1. How does it feel being the most expensive player in the side?
I've never really thought of it before. Quite happy really now you mention it I can tell everyone that I cost more than Steiny !!!

2. Since moving from Boreham Wood, you have played in many positions. Do you favour playing at the back or in midfield?
Midfield has always been my preference as you are on the go all the time and always involved. But over the last couple of seasons I've found myself playing at the back a lot more, mainly due to injuries or is it because I'm getting older and slower?, and I'm enjoying it. To be honest I don't mind where I play as long as I'm getting a game.

3. Are you and Ashley having a booking contest (I think Meercat is winning)?
There's no way I would have a competition on bookings with Meercat, he will always win hands down, although I gave it a good go last year. I think it's just the type of players we are , and if you go in for a lot of challenges you're always going to mistime a few and it's not like a few years ago where you could get away with a couple with just a warning . Nowadays you get booked for every mistimed tackle !!! You can see by Ashley's expression (usually screaming with his arms and fingers fully extended) that he normally thinks he has taken the ball, but from this photo you can see that it's not always the case !!!! (Sorry, not for viewing on a family site!!!)

4. Would you be willing to go full-time if the Daggers ever established themselves in the Football League?
I would be willing yes, but that would be a decision for the club and manager to make. What do you mean Ever ? Shouldn't that be when ?

5. What would you say are your best qualities?
My eyes !!!

6. In what ways has the club improved since you joined?
I think the club has always been a big non league club , but I think over the last couple of years we have got together a very strong squad and we now have 24 players who are all challenging for a first team spot. Also a lot of work has gone on off the pitch to work with the community in different ways and as a result the crowds have gone up in current years. Also the ground has obviously been upgraded which is a big plus.

7. What was the experience of playing Premiership teams in the FA Cup like?
Excellent. I think the day at Charlton will live long in the memory of all the players and supporters that were there that day. It's every non league players hope to draw a premiership side in the 3rd round so to play against 2 in 2 seasons was great. Maybe Liverpool or Man Utd for third time lucky ?

8. What does you day-job involve?
Not a lot really, I work on a project team within Customs and Excise helping to update accounting systems, but everthing is quiet at the moment.

9. Which players do you admire most?
Mark Brennan - He had to share a room with Dickie Harper a couple of times last year. Steven Gerrard - Being a Liverpool supporter I am a big fan of his. He has everything you would want as a midfield player.

10. Who is your room-mate when the Daggers stop overnight and do they have any annoying habits?
I don't know who it will be this year as it was Jonah last year. Mind you it can't get any worse ....... he would sit there all the time either trying to look intellectual reading his Telegraph or doing an essay on his PC ... bore off . He also used to snore, very loudly !! I also roomed with Vickers, you can imagine which channel he had on all night. Danny Hayzelden , who just kept saying "Do you think I look like Hugh Grant Heffs?" whilst gelling his hair and Paul Terry with whom we terrorised Goffs & Broomy non stop.

11. What are the best and worst parts of playing for the Daggers?
The best part is the commoradaro we have amongst the players , everyone gets on really well and there is plenty of banter. Those that are not in the selected 16 are always full of support for the others. The worst part would have to be listening to Dickie the Busyio going on about ilio tibio band injuries, what we should eat etc, and giving us printouts from his home computer with his name printed at the top. I'm sure he's got nothing better to do !!!
