Alex joined the club from Forest Green Rovers after being tracked by Garry Hill for eighteen months. Born in 1980, he was ineligible for a free move under the Bosman ruling and a nominal fee was agreed for his services. He started his career as a schoolboy at Norwich City before moving to Swindon, making his league debut in 1997. He did not add to his tally however and moved to Bristol City where he was given a four-year contract. After only 5 starts, 8 sub appearances and 4 goals two years after his move, he was loaned to Forest Green. Turning down a permanent switch, he then trialled at Plymouth and Notts County, and was loaned by Yeovil Town. He eventually agreed to a permanent deal at Forest Green at the end of 2000 where he remained, scoring 33 goals in 99 games in the league. Alex is moving house from the West Country and will be on a full-time contract.
