Sheffield born Ashley had spells at both Wednesday and United before moving to Worcester City, Eton Manor, Chelmsford City, and Braintree Town. He was then snapped by third division Peterborough, and subsequently joined St Albans at the start of 1998/99 for a 4 figure fee. He was club captain at the Saints and won player of the year last season. Ashley is a tall defender who is equally at home in the centre of defence or at left-back. The 27-year old has been capped by the Ryman League Representative Squad and also the FA XI.
