Qigong- traditional soft Chinese health exercise.
In the North-Western Mountains of China, above Tibet, there is a place called Kunlun Shan, home to many wild geese. Their natural beauty and grace fascinated the monks and hermits who lived there.
They observed every movement, combining these with their knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine, meditation, breathing, acupuncture, and the concepts of yin and yang, and the five elements.
They created a healthy and relaxing exercise known today as the Dayan Gong, the Wild Goose Qigong. The current teachers are the 29th generation inheritors of this skill.
Qigong translates literally as "working with qi" (chi), our natural internal energy. Regular and correct practise of Qigong will renew body and mind and slow down the ageing process, with its attendant stiffness, and loss of balance and co-ordination.
As well as the dance-like Dayan Gong, full of swooping, leaning and twisting movement, you will be able to learn many of the other fascinating forms and supplementary exercises, such as Balancing Gong and Healthy Living Gong. A thorough Qigong stretch and warm-up begins every class.
