Beethoven

There was this graveyard in Austria where Beethoven is buried and people thought it was haunted.

One day there emerged astonishing reports of Beethoven's 9th Symphony floating through the air, apparently from nowhere. The peculiar thing was, though, that the music was being played backwards.

This went on for a while, then one day the music switched to Beethoven's 8th Symphony and this, too, was being played backwards. It went on like this for ages - every week there was a different Beethoven symphony floating through the graveyard and each time the music was backwards.

Many specialists were brought in to try and solve the mystery - ghost hunters, exorcists, paranormal investigators, musicologists etc., but all to no avail.

Then one day when a huge crowd had gathered to hear the latest Beethoven symphony playing backwards in the graveyard, somebody thought to ask the elderly gravedigger what his opinion was. He looked down at the grave bearing the headstone "Ludwig Van Beethoven 1770-1827" and said: "Surely, it's obvious. He's decomposing."
