Some people ask the secret of our long marriage. We take time to go to a restaurant two times a week. A little candlelight, dinner, soft music and dancing. She goes Tuesday, I go Fridays.

When I was a kid, I had no watch. I used to tell the time by my violin. I used to practice in the middle of the night and the neighbours would yell, "Fine time to practice the violin, three o’clock in the morning."

I stayed at one of the better hotels. I was in a place called The Fractured Arms. I paid my rent in advance - they put the window back in my room. You can imagine how big my room was - when I closed the door, the door- knob got in bed with me. It was small, even the mice were hunchbacks. I had a headache, the guy next door had to take the aspirin.
