Firecracker XI - The Action
The 11th annual Firecracker meeting again attracted some of the most exotic machinery to grace a banger racing track. With over 150 cars on display and Granadas and Japanesse tin excluded, there was a great selection of machinery even if the Jaguar XJ6 was the main machine. A demonstration race for Rolls Royces and Cadillacs proceded the 6 heats, two consolations and the final.
The final reult was a forth win for Sonny Sheerwood (348) from last years winner Chris Reed (633), there were no other finishers.
It may have been a demonstration race, but Glen Alexander (496) put on a show.
Dan Steel (741) looks impresive in his Silver Shadow.
Didier Callewaert (665) attempts to roll the P4 of Micky Thornhill (577).
Shane Davies (158) watches his mirror.
Mick Holmes (455) rocks the 6/90 of Greig Cheeseman (312).
Holmes (455) then feels the force of Paul Lawes (532).
Steve Ward (560) won a speial award for his antics in his Series 2 XJ6.
Simon Ward (129) puts the Hearse of Paul Coker (674) into the armco.
Nigel Riley (921) is chased by Simon Smith (589).
Dave Edwards (19) puts pressure on the Humber of Bernie French (23).

Only to be taken out by Evert Dijk (808).
It all got too tough
for the Humber
and French (23) found himself roof down.

who then went on to take Edwards (19) out.
Mark Saunders (922) gets himself caught on the inner wall.

but not without some problems.

Holmes (455) kept the Mk10 going despite severe damage.
The 2nd consolation was brought to an early end as the XJ6 of Sam Topley (998) lite up.
