Alternative World Championship - Action
Action was thick and fast throughout the races, which consisted of a last chance qualifier, the final, an allcomers race and a meeting final into DD. Rob Mills (404) won the last chance race then went on to win the final from Shane Brown (120) and Lib James (252). Danny Smithson (311) took the allcomers, while John Stoneman (901) won the meeting final, Bryan Webb (283) picked up the DD prize.


The last chance race starts with the pit bend pile up.


Despite slamming the 888 car into the armco, Brian Daniel (740) still managed 3rd to qualify for the final.


Pete Denford (501) didn't do so well coming to rest with the back struts ripped out.


The championship started with Phil Powell (199) being stuffed into the pit gate by Buddy James (262).


Hoagy Wallace (502) goes head to head with Shane Davies (158).


Chris Vickers (556) is forced into the stranded Davies (158).


Mike Kilford (202) keeps it together as Shane Brown (120) stays clear.


Kenny Gabriel (12) is stuck on the plating as Jon Worstencroft (51) approaches at speed....


..with a little help from Brett Ellacott (162)!


Steve Bailey (190) takes a shot at Steve Farrell (200).


Ben Williams (955) and Mark Simmons (355) come together as Kilford (202) and Rob Mills (404) pass by.


Ellacott (162) ends John Dodge's (201) race.


before James (262) makes doubly sure.


Lib James (252) challenges Brown (120) for 2nd position.


Mills (404) forces his way through to victory.


The allcomers race produces more mayhem with Davies (158) and Aaron Brown (118) in the thick of it.


Paul Horwood (426) goes flying into the pit gate...


again thanks to that man Ellacott (162).


Brown (118) finds himself stranded on a marker tyre.


Jason King (356) and Williams (955) go head on.


Mills (404) storms into Brian Daniel (740).


Bryan Webb (283) ends Williams (955) day.


Powell (199) gets Jon Stoneman (901) airbourne.


Webb (283) becomes the jam in a Wallace (502)/James (262) sandwich.


Wallace (502) on the end of a Brown (120) high speed hit.


Scott Mowlam (396) lays into the ailing P5 of Ian Meaker (266).


Stoneman (901) dishes the dirt on Brown (120).


Tony Roe (213) comes in hard on both Brown (120) and Stoneman (901).


Danny Smithson (311) and Ringo Starr (6) do battle.


Webb (283) picks up Bailey (190).


Neil Naismith (880) long journey ended with a very short race!


Janes (262) wonders just where Webb (283) is going to plant him!
