World Championship - Fresh Qualifiers |
| 40 qualifiers plus 60 support convergered on Wimbledon for the most prestigious title in the banger racing world. Unlike previous years, there was a smattering of material with three Mk2 limos, several Mk1s including two coupes, couple of Crowns a Datsun and a couple of Mercs and one enormous yank. Two last chance qualifiers produced wins for Shaun Copland (143) and Dale Hughes (27), both of which were on the back row of the final grid. 41 cars linned up for the final which was run over 25 laps and produced the following result:- 1st Mark Simmons (355), 2nd Shane Brown (120), 3rd Willie Skoyles, 4th Keith Painter (46) Two allcommers races also produced some tremendous driving and wrecking with wins going to David Ball (617) and Jack Overy (617). Those of you at Wimbo will appreciate that this is the most difficult meeting to take photos at due to the crowds and queues. |
