Big Van Bangers - Action/Wrecks
39 Big Vans arrived for the annual Boxing Day meeting, though two failed to race. Tim Dray (728) again supplied the biggest vehicle with his Dodge Bus (though not quite as big as last year).Two heats for half the vans produced wins for Clyde Williams (106) and Dave Wilde (4). The consulation went to Richard Flockton (670), the prize money went to Keith Painter (46) in the final who was followed home by Dale Fairless (141) and Mark Simmonds (355).

We wre unable to stay for the DD so all photos are after the final.


Only 16 vans for heat 1 but it is well congested.


Paul Burch (880) goes in hard on Ben Oliver (920).


Shaun Winchester (364) finds himself in the thick of it.


Kevin Seale (887) after his encounter with Winchester (364).


Winchester (364) on the case again taking out Kevin Pepper (965).


Burch (880) spins the ambulance of Ken Angle (265).


Oliver (920) takes Steve Weaver (63) over the back wheel.


Clyde Williams (106) takes Bill Aldred (353) into the fence..


which ended Aldred's racing for the day!


Chaos on the scoreboard bend, Simon Dartnell (808) taking the brunt.


By heat 2 the rain was taking it's toll, 373 spraying the infield.


Matthew Nutley (980) is spun by Tim Dray (728).


Dray (728) goes into the hapless 373.


Keith Painter (46) takes out Nutley (980).


Mark Simmonds (355) takes out Roy Flockton (133).


The battle of the buses, resulted in Dray (728) on the wrong end of 856.


Dave King (206) was detrmined to inflict damage on Dray (728)...


pursueing the bus all round the track!


Painter (46), Simmonds (355) and Dave Wilde (4) power slide their way to the places in heat 2.


King (206) continues his assault on Dray (728).


More trouble on the scoreboard turn.


Painter (46) takes out Burch (880).


Dray (728) did get spun, but not often.


Winchester (364) goes in hard on Angle (265).


King (206) finally lost the the rear end!


Angle (265) was in danger of the same, though he did appear to go faster in the streamlined form.


Painter (46) and Richard Flockton (670) combine to attempt to stop Dray (728).


End of the road for Weaver (63).


King (206) finally lost all his panels.


Damaged but still running, Dray (728).


Nutley (980) had his chips.


Terminal damage for the 854 bus.


Simmonds (355).


Burch (880) still looking faily straight.


Sonny Sherwood (348) took front end damage.
