The main objectives of local Neighbourhood Watches are:-

Improving home security through property marking and appropriate security equipment, thus reducing the opportunities for crime and making it more difficult for criminals to act.

Enhancing good citizenship and community spirit by taking responsibility for your own safety and that of your family and neighbours.

Working closely with the police - reporting anything suspicious and encouraging a two way flow of information.

To reduce the fear of crime felt by so many people, especially the elderly.

Neighbourhood Watch was introduced to the UK in 1982 making 2006 its 24th   year. Our local watch was set up in November 2001. Neighbourhood Watch can make a real difference in reducing crime and the fear of crime it can also help in bringing neighbours closer together. If you are interested in starting a Neighbourhood Watch in your road or area contact your local police station for more information or visit the National Neighbourhood Watch site, link below.

In an emergency always ring 999, less urgent reports can be made to the non emergency  number 0845 33 00 222,  or you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, Borehamwood Police Station 8905 1212
