World War I

Pte Charles Corns, Pte Henry Jones and Sgt Isaac Leonard Williams

Killed in action and died of wounds

Three of my great uncles were killed in the First World War. All served in the South Staffordshire Regiment and two were killed on the Somme (Henry JONES and Isaac Leonard WILLIAMS). The third, Charles CORNS, died over a year after being discharged from war service but is commemorated on the memorial window at St John's church, Swindon, Staffordshire (click on the image below for a larger picture). Isaac Leonard Williams is commemorated on the same window.
