If you want to own a planted aquarium where the aquatic plants thrive and survive longer than a couple of weeks then Injecting Carbon Dioxide is a great idea. Aquatic Plants need Carbon Dioxide and Light. Fish usually provida some Carbon Dioxide when they breathe out but not enough for the plants to thrive. Injecting Carbon Dioxide is very easy but adding too much may result in the death of your fish so you have to get the right balance set up so both the fish and the plants thrive. It is higly unlikely that using a diy Carbon Dioxide Generator will creat that quantity of Carbon Dioxide.

All you need is a plasic bottle. The Bottle should be able to hold 1 litre to every 100 litres in your aquarium. Drill a hole in the cap and insert a small piece of pipe but make sure that the seal is air tight. The pipe can be connected to a piece of tubing and an airstone.

To create the Carbon Dioxide you will need 200g sugar, 500ml of warm water and a teaspoon of yeast. Mix all these ingerdients together and pour it into the bottle. It will take about twelve hours for the solution to start producing Carbon Dioxide. The Solution will produce Carbon Dioxide for roughly 2 weeks.

This Carbon Dioxide Injection sound unreal and there must be a catch. There is a small catch you may have to trim your plants more due to their increased growth!

An amazing sight is watching the plant photosynthesise and release tiny bubbles of oxygen from their leaves.
